What AboutThe Food Pyramid?
Now the government is talking about replacing the Food Guide Pyramid. I ask, "Why has it taken so long?" Are you aware that the Food Guide Pyramid is very similar to the one used to fatten cattle?
The government says that 80% of the nation recognizes the pyramid, two-thirds are overweight or obese. They go further to ask how can they get the public to make behavior changes?
It seems obvious that people need more than pyramid guides and paperwork. Why not the proper tests to show people why they are overweight, the proper foods to help them feel satisfied so they don't feel deprived on diets, and a truthful approach by the government to help school children, many of whom eat most of their meals at school, to learn about healthy food and be able to eat it in the school cafeterias!
As a patient, ask your physician to perform the following blood tests so you can see for yourself:
Fasting Insulin: value should be 5
Hemoglobin A1C: value should be 5
Lipid Panel:
Value of Triglycerides/HDL ration should be 1.5
Fatty Acid Analysis
Use your bloodwork values to tell yourself if what you are eating is good for you. Take charge of your life, forget fad diets, use science as your guide. Ask yourself if you feel good after you eat.
